Parent Teacher Conferences and Student-Led Conferences

Please remember that on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of next week we will be hosting Student-led Conferences alongside Parent Teacher Conferences. All middle school students are expected to share their e-portfolio outlining their growth in core subjects this year with their parents. There will be a supervised space in the upper commons where these conferences can take place on a drop in basis.

Please use Pick-a-Time to sign up for a meeting time with your child’s teachers. We highly encourage students to be part of these conversations. Remember they are 4:00 – 7:30 on Tuesday, 5 April and Thursday, 7 April and from 1:00 – 4:00 on Friday, 8 April.

Community Time

In community time this week students prepared their portfolios for next week’s Student-led Conferences.  The portfolios will outline a student’s growth in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages and Physical Education. The students have been practicing and are eager to share their growth with their parents.

Visiting Author

Thursday and Friday of last week all grade 8 students and select 7th grade students had the opportunity to talk with Ishmael Beah about his experiences as an author and humanitarian. The students had great questions and engaged in some amazing conversations.

AMIS Middle School Choir Festival

Every year a select group of choir students are invited to participate in the AMIS choir festival with other students from around the world. With approximately 15 schools attending, students in the festival have the prestigious opportunity to enhance their musical skills by preparing challenging repertoire, participating in three intensive days of rehearsal and then performing a magnificent concert alongside other top musicians from international schools worldwide. This year, five young vocalists will participate in the festival at the International School of Amsterdam from 6 – 10 April to represent ICS in this collaborative enrichment opportunity. We are so proud of our young musicians and we know they will represent our school very well!

ASA and After School Pick-Up

Please be reminded that students need to be supervised while on campus. If they are staying for an ASA, they must be in that ASA until it finishes and then they can be by the front gate awaiting pick up. Students must leave campus by 5:30 PM at the latest. Please help us keep your child safe on campus by ensuring they are not unsupervised or left on campus for long stretches of time. Thank you for your help in reminding your child of these policies.

MS Principal attending a course between 30 March – 6 April

I will be attending a Leadership Conference with the High School Principal, High School Assistant Principal and the Elementary Assistant Principal for one week. In our absence, Chris McBride will be acting Middle School Principal and Ms. Theresa Davis will be assisting him as well as supervising the High School. Please feel free to contact either of them if you have any urgent middle school issues and be assured I will be checking email while I am away. I will return in time for the Parent Teacher Conferences and am looking forward to seeing many of you there.
