Student Support Services
At the ICS, we use a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) approach called Response to Intervention (RTI). Most students’ learning needs are met within the classroom setting at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 level. There are times, however, when we need to respond to a student’s academic, speech and/or OT needs in a timely, targeted and personalized fashion through an additional layer of more intensive support. This is called Tier 3 intervention. The Student Support services at ICS are designed to provide this level of support.
Who Are We?
Student Support services is made up of multiple team members offering different types of support: English Language Learning, Special Education, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Psycho-Educational Testing.
What Do We Do?
The Student Support Teams (SST) collaborate as a part of multidisciplinary planning to identify students’ academic needs and to provide targeted interventions that are personalized for each child.
While it is our aim to meet the needs of all students, we understand that part of being responsibly inclusive means that we are honest about the scope of services we can provide. Currently, we are not able to provide services for students with significant emotional or behavioral needs; or with severe, complex cognitive needs.
