Our Department of  Student Support Services consists of a team of diverse and skilled group of professionals dedicated to supporting the varied needs of our students. The team includes specialists in: 

• Learning Support: Offered in each section.  We have a learning support teacher in every grade level from Early Years to Grade 5, ensuring that tailored assistance is available for students who need it.  
• English as an Additional Language (EAL): Support for students who are developing their English language proficiency.
• Occupational Therapy (OT): Focused on helping students develop the skills they need for daily living and academic success.
• Speech and Language Therapy: Assisting students with speech, language, and communication challenges.
• Counseling: Providing emotional and social support to students, as well as future counseling such as university and career guidance to help students plan and prepare for life beyond school.
• Evaluations: Conducted by our full-time school-wide educational psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist and/or Occupational Therapist to identify and understand the needs of our students.
• Student Transition Educational Program: Supporting students with more intensive needs. 

At ICS, we utilize a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) approach, specifically through our Response to Intervention (RTI) framework. This system allows us to identify students' academic, emotional, and behavioral needs early and provide the appropriate level of intervention.

• Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions occur within the classroom, where the majority of students' needs are met through differentiated instruction and in-class support.
• Tier 3 interventions are for students who require more intensive, specialized support. This includes individualized and targeted strategies that are crafted by our Student Support Teams (SST), working in close collaboration with classroom teachers and parents.

Our goal is to ensure that each student receives the support they need while maintaining the integrity of our inclusive environment.

ICS Addis is proud to be a member of several esteemed organizations, including SENIA (Special Education Network & Inclusion Association), ISCA, and the Multilingual Research Center (MLRC). Since April 2022, we have also been a member of Next Frontier Inclusion, reflecting our commitment to advancing inclusive education practices.

While our team is equipped to address a wide range of needs, we are particularly mindful of the necessity to recognize and respond appropriately to students with severe behavioral and emotional challenges. This understanding shapes our inclusion policies and practices, ensuring that we provide the most suitable support for each child.
