Tuition and Fees

Additional costs may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Lunch
• Laptop deposit (grades 6-8)
• Laptop purchase (grades 9-12)
• International athletics and activities trips
• Uniform for physical education and sports (grades 4-12)

A tuition fee reduction is provided only on annual tuition and only to the third sibling and any subsequent siblings. The reductions are applied in order of tuition amount, i.e., the highest deduction on the lowest tuition.

3rd child: five percent (5%) reduction in annual tuition

4th child: ten percent (10%) reduction in annual tuition

5th child and subsequent children: fifteen percent (15%) reduction in annual tuition

Parents/guardians are responsible for paying all tuition and fees on time.

Tuition and fees must be paid in full before the student may attend school.

1. Tuition and capital fee payments are due two weeks before the first day of the semester. There are two semesters in the school year.
   1. Payment by organizations:
      1. Annual tuition and capital fee are due by 2 August 2023.
   2. Payment by individuals:
      1. First semester tuition and full capital fee are due by 2 August 2023.
      2. Second semester tuition is due by 26 December 2023.
2. Registration fee for the 2024-25 school year is due by 15 April 2024.

The school year has two semesters. Tuition may be paid by semester if a student is not enrolled for the full school year. Application, registration and capital fees must be paid for the full year.

For students enrolled for any portion of a semester, the semester tuition and annual capital fee shall be paid in full.

Early Years 3 early entry students who join EY3 at one of the mid-semester entry points as a result of their birth date and the early entry admissions policy are charged 50% of the semester tuition for that semester only. See the Admissions Policy for more details. 

 

Cancellation of enrollment must be communicated to the Registrar Office in writing (registrar@icsaddis.org).

1. If cancellation of enrollment is communicated before the first day of the semester, reimbursement of tuition and capital fee payments shall be as follows:
   1. For cancellation of enrollment before semester 1 begins, the tuition and capital fee payments will be refunded in full.
   2. For cancellation of enrollment before semester 2 begins, the semester 2 tuition will be refunded in full.
2. If cancellation of enrollment is communicated on or after the first day of the semester, there is no refund of the semester tuition and capital fee.

All tuition and fee payments must be made in US dollars. Payment in USD may be made in cash, personal check, wire transfer, NR check or FCY check. Cash and checks may be submitted directly to the Cashier Office; cash payments over $2,000 must be submitted directly to the bank. Wire transfers may be made to our US bank. Application fee

A non-refundable fee for the administrative costs of considering a new student application. Valid for one year after payment.

Registration fee

A non-refundable fee to reserve a space in the upcoming school year. Valid for one year after payment. The registration fee is credited toward the tuition for the next school year.

Capital fee

Supports the school’s capital improvements, including new construction as well as maintenance and replacement of existing facilities, and funds provision of classroom and residential furniture and technology needs. The annual capital fee is due in full and is not prorated.

Tuition

Funds the operating costs of the school, including human resource costs, instructional materials, athletics and activities operations, technology resources and other operational requirements.

Specialized student support fees

Covers a portion of the cost of providing additional services such as occupational or speech therapy.

May I pay in Ethiopian birr?

The school's expenses are primarily in US dollars, and therefore all parents are required to pay in hard currency.

May I pay with a credit card?

Credit card payments may be made directly to the ICS cashier for small transactions (e.g., application fee, laptop deposit). Please note that lunch deposits must be made in cash. ICS cannot provide refunds in US cash; only birr cash, USD check or bank transfer are possible for refunds.

May I pay with a USD check?

USD checks may be submitted to the ICS cashier as well as by mail to our bank in the US. Foreign currency checks from Ethiopian banks are also accepted.

What is your IBAN number?

TD Bank is a US bank and does not have an IBAN number. The bank details provided are sufficient to make a bank transfer. Contact business.office@icsaddis.org for the bank details.

My child will start class after the start of the semester. Is tuition pro-rated?

Tuition is paid by semester, with two semesters in the year. The annual capital fee must be paid in full, regardless of the time enrolled. 

For students enrolled for any portion of a semester, the semester tuition and annual capital fee shall be paid in full before the student may attend school.

My child will start class after the beginning of the semester. When is tuition due?

Tuition and fees are due in full before a student may start school.

My child is leaving before the end of the semester. Do I get a refund?

Tuition is charged by semester, with two semesters in the school year. If a student is enrolled for any portion of a semester, the semester tuition is paid in full. 

Application/registration fees and annual capital fees are paid in full and are not prorated or refunded.

If a student's enrollment is cancelled before semester 2 begins, the semester 2 tuition will be refunded in full.

Do you offer financial aid or scholarships?

Financial assistance is not available through ICS. We provide 16 full scholarships to Ethiopian students through our scholarship program, which is based on merit and open to rising grade 9 students. More information on the program is available HERE.

Does ICS provide any tuition discounts?

Families with more than two children are provided a small discount for tuition for any additional children. This applies to tuition only, not to any other fees.

What is the capital fee?

My child previously attended ICS. Do we need to pay the new student capital fee again?

Students who previously attended ICS and are returning after an absence of one school year or more must pay either the difference between the current new student capital fee and the new student capital levy/fee paid when they first enrolled at ICS, or the returning student capital fee, whichever is higher.

Is the application fee/registration fee refundable?

The application and registration fees are non-refundable, and are valid for one year after the date of payment. The registration fee only is credited toward the tuition for the next school year.
