Call For New Board Members
The ICS Board of Governors invites you to consider becoming a member.
The ICS Board of Governors is comprised of up to nine volunteers and is responsible for aligning the vision, mission, and values of ICS with its strategic goals and for the stewardship of resources. We develop policies, oversee ICS’s operating budgets and capital assets; support, monitor and evaluate the Head of School; assess and approve tuition rates; and ensure the school is adequately financed to accomplish its goals.
The current Board consists of eight members. Five members are appointed by the Board, two members are elected by the ICS Association, and one is appointed by the US Ambassador. Some of our members are concluding their terms of service this year, and we are inviting and encouraging interested people from, or known to, the school community to join the Board.

We are looking for candidates with a range of experience and capabilities. To enhance the skills of our current group we are especially interested in people with experience or expertise in:
Finance and budget management
Project management, general contracting, architectural design, civil engineering
Governance, strategic planning, management
International schools (as a parent, alum or former employee), and their unique opportunities and complexities
You can join the ICS Board of Governors by either being elected by the Association, or by being appointed by the Board through a nomination and selection process.
To run for the Elected position or to apply for an Appointed position, candidates must fulfill one of the following criteria:
- must be a current parent or guardian ICS Association member (excluding ICS employees)
- must be nominated by a current association member
Association Voted Elections:
Any current ICS Association member, excluding ICS employees, can run for election. For full details and the application documents, please click HERE. Documentation must be received by 14 March 2021. Please email your submission to: firstname.lastname@example.org
After 14 March, you will be contacted to record a short video on or before 30 March 2021. Voting for elections will open on 1 April 2021 and will conclude at the AGM on Monday 19 April 2021. Results are expected to be announced at the AGM.
In addition to your documentation submission, you will need to attend a panel discussion on 30 March 2021 to present yourself to the Association and answer questions from the Board and ICS Association members.
Board Appointed Nominations:
ICS Association members can apply for or they may nominate up to two candidates (who do not need to be members of the ICS Association) an appointed position. The Board will then select and vote on nominated candidates by 18 April 2021.
Strategic Task Force for Board Appointments:
A Strategic Task Force will assist in evaluating all nominated candidates for Board appointed positions. The Strategic Task Force consists of a group of ICS Association members along with some members of the Board Governance Committee. The ICS Association members must have been at ICS since the start of this school year and cannot be an immediate family member of a candidate, nor have nominated a candidate. Strategic Task Force members must be available for interviews and evaluations between 8-15 March 2021.
