Parent Teacher Organization Kicks Off Year of Inclusion, Partnership

The Parent Teacher Organization welcomes all ICS parents and families to join their first general meeting of the year of Friday 1 September at 8:00 AM.
All parents of ICS students are automatically members of the PTO, and there are are several ways to get involved. At Friday's meeting, parents will get information about the function of the PTO, how to volunteer for events and official roles, as well as their different clubs, community activities, and charitable initiatives.

"ICS families come from more than 70 different countries, and we know that our diversity is one of the things that strengthens our community," PTO Chair Charlotte Bierstee said. "We have a warm and welcoming community of parents with a range of backgrounds, interests, and abilities to contribute. We invite everyone to join this group aimed at supporting the school, our children, and the community. It's going to be a fantastic year."
Despite their first meeting taking place just this week, the PTO has already been busy carrying out many events. They hosted one of the community's favorite monthly events -- the Community Market -- featuring more than 60 vendors representing NGOs, charities, businesses, and student groups. The PTO also hosted the first of its annual bus tours this week to help new parents connect with one another while familiarizing themselves with Addis Ababa.
To find out more about how you can get involved, join the PTO's first meeting, check the ICS calendar for more PTO events, or reach out directly to pto@icsaddis.org.
