NGO Fair Ignites Curiosity & Inspires Community Action

At ICS Addis, we’ve redefined Global Citizenship Education (GCE) and service learning to foster meaningful connections with our local and global communities.
Anchored by the Ethiopian concept of "metebaber"—emphasizing cooperation and mutual benefit—our approach nurtures empathy, self-awareness, and integrity while inspiring students to act responsibly for a just and sustainable world.
This vision came alive during our second annual Community Engagement Fair on 30 October. Building on the success of last year’s event, we expanded the fair to include students from Early Yers 5 to Grade 12, inviting representatives from 18 local and global organizations addressing a wide range of challenges. Students had the opportunity to learn about how these organizations address local and global issues including food insecurity, education, disability empowerment, and support for vulnerable groups.

Through conversations with these organizations, students gained invaluable insights into local and global issues, igniting empathy and inspiring action. The event also provided opportunities for our teachers to connect with NGOs, fostering partnerships that enhance curricular connections and real-world learning.
Our commitment to service learning goes beyond events. By integrating these experiences into the curriculum, students not only develop cultural awareness and problem-solving skills but also actively engage in sustainable, ethical actions that contribute to both their personal growth and the betterment of the community. Together, we’re shaping future leaders who are prepared to make a positive impact on the world.
