ICS Welcomes Diverse Cohort of New Families & Students for 2022/23

It was an exciting week for ICS, as we welcomed 46 new families to the community for the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
Prior to the first day of school, ICS invited new parents and students on to campus for an introduction to the school’s world-class teachers and learning spaces. Over the course of the two-day orientation, new families met and mingled alongside a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony and snacks, and they had the chance to pick up supplies and ICS Eagle merchandise in preparation for the coming year of learning.
ICS Head of School Earl Chamberlin welcomed the cohort of 229 new students representing 48 countries.
“There has been a special feeling on campus this week, as we’ve welcomed so many new students and parents to campus for the first time,” Earl said. “I’ve watched our ICS student-ambassadors and teachers connect with new families, and we all share a sense of excitement for the wide range of learning and extracurricular experiences planned for the upcoming school year.”
Jen Sawyer, Chair of the ICS Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), said the parent community has a lot of plans for the coming school year, including events and support initiatives. As students joined their peers and teachers for the first day of school, the PTO invited parents to the year’s first coffee morning, serving as a chance to meet and re-connect after the summer break.

“The PTO was thrilled to connect with so many new and returning parents at the first day of school coffee morning,” Jen said. “This year we will build on the success of signature community events, as well as revive or invent new initiatives that best serve the ICS family. We invite and encourage all new parents to join us.”
New families to ICS are joining a community of thousands around the globe. There are 69 nationalities represented among the ICS student body, and the ICS Alumni Network reaches even further.
