ICS Musicians Shine in Performance at United Nations Event

ICS musicians were star performers at a recent language celebration at the United Nations Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

The Chilean Embassy invited ICS students to participate in the celebration "Dia de la Lengua Española” or Spanish Language Day, celebrating and promoting the Spanish language in Africa.

Nine embassies that speak Spanish collaborated to host the event with their consuls, ambassadors, and other authorities. 18 ICS students played ukuleles, guitars, flutes, and xylophones.

Several ambassadors personally congratulated the students, who put on an impeccable performance, especially the Chilean Ambassador Mr. Rodrigo Guzman, and the  Mr. Cristian Vega, the Chilean Consul.

The Argentinian ambassador also gifted four wonderful books to our students from some of the best Argentinian poets and novel writers.

“This was an unforgettable and beautiful experience for our students, and I am so proud of them for using their music to celebrate culture and language in Ethiopia,” Music Teacher Carolina Pobleta said.

ICS Addis is proud to be part of the strong international community in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and strives to foster unique and impactful learning experiences such as this. To find out more, visit our Learn page.
