ICS Community Donates 400,000 ETB to Support Children with Cancer

Our school community is turning care into impact.

Through the ICS Parent Teacher Organization's (PTO) fundraiser event, our school community raised an incredible 400,000 Ethiopian birr in support of children in Ethiopia battling cancer.

Last week, the PTO donated the full amount to Matheos Wondu Ethiopian Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to improving access to life-saving treatment and care for pediatric cancer patients across the country.

The event brought together families, staff, and friends of the school in a powerful example of what can happen when community and purpose align. The event reflected the values that define ICS—compassion, service, and a commitment to making a difference both locally and globally.

“Our fundraiser was a perfect example of fun with purpose—people came together, enjoyed themselves, and at the same time made a real difference by raising money for a meaningful cause,” said Mesrak Netsanet, PTO Chair. “The ICS PTO is very proud to be able to support such a worthy cause and grateful to every member of our school community who contributed.”

The Matheos Wondu Ethiopian Cancer Society plays a vital role in Ethiopia by helping children access treatment that may otherwise be out of reach, while also supporting families through incredibly challenging journeys.

This initiative is another reflection of the ICS Way in action—bringing people together, caring for one another, and using our collective strength to support the wider community.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event and donated to this cause!
