ICS Brings Together 18 Addis Schools for Collaboration

As the international school landscape in Addis Ababa grows and evolves, there are more opportunities for collaboration and connection among Addis international schools.

Inspired by the success of several get togethers for the admissions and communications personnel of different schools, ICS hosted a larger networking event for school operations and student support services on 29 October.

More than 50 participants from 18 international schools in Addis attended the morning event. Members of the ICS student support services team led conversations around learning support, English language learning, counseling and more. The heads of several departments on the operations side of ICS facilitated conversations about human resources, information technology, finance and procurement.

Participants shared successes and challenges, often finding common ground with their counterparts from other schools. For most of the groups, a campus tour was the culminating event of the morning; the ICS leaders highlighted how their departmental work was reflected in the learning spaces as well as the many operational functions of the school that support the educational work.

Director of Admissions Jessica Fortin shared her thoughts on next steps for this networking initiative: "Our goal is to continue these conversations by establishing informal networks among the different departments, nurturing relationships between schools, and hopefully  encouraging similar events in the future."

The ICS team is grateful for the support from the school administration, and for the opportunity to highlight our strengths, while learning and connecting with other schools.
