ICS Addis Serves as Hub for the Future of International Education

Dozens of international teachers gathered in Ethiopia this weekend for an educational conference hosted at ICS Addis.

ICS hosted the event in collaboration with the International Baccalaureate, a leading educational organization offering future-focused programs aimed at empowering students to take ownership of their learning. As a leading school in Africa offering the IB’s Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme, ICS Addis is a hub for innovative education and is a facilitator of exchange for some of the world’s most experienced and progressive teachers.

“ICS teachers are life-long learners, and we are proud to offer our host city Addis Ababa as a hub of professional learning for the IB in Africa,” said Dr. Chris Cowherd, ICS Executive Director of Learning and Innovation. “This type of gathering provides teachers with an opportunity to connect with leading experts, learn from one another, and collaborate to push our offerings further into the future.”

For ICS Addis, the chance to host an IB workshop allows us to leverage our commitment to the IB and continue to build our capacity to deliver the PYP, MYP and DP programs. As a school offering these programs, hosting leaders in international education allows us to invest in our ability to deliver high-quality and consistent learning opportunities for each student throughout their entire journey at ICS, which is crucial as we approach our MYP authorization and become an IB Continuum School.

ICS is devoted to ensuring our teachers, educational assistants, and staff have access to learning opportunities that keep them at the forefront of their practice, and we aim to recruit and retain teachers who demonstrate an equal commitment to the innovative, impactful, and future-focused learning experiences we value.
