HS Students Volunteer as Leaders in Younger Peers' Activities

They are referees, volleyball coaches, and swim instructors.
High School students at ICS are taking on leadership roles in athletics programs for our younger students, serving our student community and supporting the school.
Last Saturday, with every outdoor field on the ICS campus full of young soccer players, nearly a dozen high school students volunteered to referee the games to ensure a fun, fair, and engaging athletics environment. By modeling good sportsmanship and teamwork, these students demonstrated how small acts of guidance can leave a lasting impact.
In our new swimming program and in Middle School volleyball, high school students are volunteering to provide leadership support for coaches and instructors.
“It’s inspiring to see our high school students sharing their skills and enthusiasm in a variety of activities programs,” Athletics & Activities Director David Williams said. “Their dedication and encouragement have improved the younger students' abilities and strengthened bonds across grade levels, creating a sense of unity that is at the heart of our school and community.”
At ICS Addis, we celebrate the power of community and the ways our students embody The ICS Way: caring for one another and serving our community. These leadership opportunities are about more than sports; they’re life lessons. By stepping into leadership roles, our high schoolers are learning the value of service, compassion, and collaboration. In turn, they are inspiring our younger students to embrace these values as they grow.
