Grade 4 Learners Adventure into Ethiopian Nature

The drive to Entoto Park took students up a mountain and into the forest.

During the two-day experience, students took part in adventurous activities, cultural explorations, cooking classes, and team building. At night, they switched off their lanterns and slept in peaceful tents alongside their peers and teachers. It was the Grade 4 Week Without Walls trip, a highlight of the Elementary School learning journey at ICS Addis and an experience many of the students will never forget.

While math, literacy, language, science and other traditional academic subjects remain essential elementos of the ICS Elementary program, these unique experiential learning trips add opportunities to break down barriers, build relationships, and explore our host country with the school community in a different context.
"At ICS, we aim to provide a range of learning experiences for our students,” Elementary School Principal Calley Connelly said. “Experiences outside the classroom challenge students to try new things, think critically, solve problems, communicate, and build teamwork skills. Students carry these adventurous and impactful learning moments back into the classroom, and the memories they gain translate into growth both in academics and life outside of school."
