Grade 2 Entrepreneurs Host Annual Market Day

Grade 2 Entrepreneurs Host Annual Market Day

You’re never too young to become an entrepreneur.

That’s one of the take-aways Grade 2 teachers wanted ICS students to learn through hosting their annual Grade 2 Market Day. Students created crafts, made snacks, hosted a photo booth and provided entertainment, inviting parents, staff, and their peers to make purchases that supported local charities.

But it wasn’t just a learning opportunity in sales. Students went through the whole process of starting a business: seeing/creating a need, doing market research, developing a product, marketing the product, selling, and then reflecting on how to make it better.

“Guiding kids through this process of inquiry helps them understand and internalize the main concepts of the unit,” Grade 2 PYP Teacher Sarah Begashaw said. “I hope students are inspired and empowered. I believe kids are powerful and creative. I want them to begin imagining what they can do on their own and potentially start their own businesses in the future!”

The Grade 2 community would like to send a thank you to everyone who came to attend market and support the students’ learning experience.
