Global Adventure, Competition, and Performance at the Core of ICS Experience

The ICS community has enjoyed a glorious return to campus in the 2022-2023 school year after periods of virtual learning and closures.

While so much learning, playing, and gathering is taking place at school once again, and the community is relishing in the return of “pre-COVID” campus vibes, another story is what is happening off campus: The 2022-2023 school year has seen the return of the infamous slate of ICS trips for students in all school sections.

Elementary, middle, and high school students have enjoyed the continuation of Week Without Walls – adventures through Addis Ababa and the natural landscapes throughout Ethiopia.

Middle and high school sports teams, clubs, and groups have ventured to countries throughout Africa for performances and competitions in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda – and even a choir performance to London.

Even ICS faculty are once again returning to their professional development travels, attending and leading workshops at international education conferences and visiting schools for evaluation and training on behalf of the International Baccalaureate.

“Students get the opportunity to see a world they may have never been able to see, experiencing new cultures, meeting new people, and trying new things,” Middle School Principal Kristine Adelsboell. “At ICS, we aim to develop global citizens, and we are grateful to be able to offer these types of experiences to our students both as part of their regular learning and as extracurriculars.”

Take a look through stories, photos, and videos, of just some of the trips our students took this year:
