Eagles Teams Win ISSEA Spirit Awards, Trophies, Connections

Our Eagles returned home from Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda to a school community full of pride for what they have achieved.

Our volleyball, Track & Field, Cross-Country, Visual Arts, and Drama teams returned with unforgettable experiences of teamwork, growth, and connection — as well as some hardware!

In true ICS spirit, our Girls Volleyball team and the entire Track & Field team both earned the Spirit of ISSEA Award — one of the most meaningful honors of the event, voted on by opposing coaches and players for sportsmanship, teamwork, and character.

This recognition recognizes the team which best demonstrates the ISSEA Conference’s core values, including community, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. It speaks volumes about who our students are, both on and off the field/court.

Our Boys Cross-Country team raced to an impressive first-place finish, while Brian O. set new ISSEA records in the 110m hurdles and triple jump. The Track & Field Boys team earned third place overall, and the Girls team finished fifth, reflecting the depth of talent and dedication across our athletics program.

On the arts side, our visual artists and actors/actresses dove deep into the theme of “Contradiction,” attending exhibitions, engaging in cultural dance and music performances, creating original artworks of so many varieties. Find photos here and a collection of video here.

On the courts, Boys Volleyball placed seventh, and Girls Volleyball placed eighth, showing determination and growth throughout the season — and embodying the resilience that defines the ICS Way.

“I am proud of all of the students who represented our school so well,” said David Williams, Activities & Athletics Director. “Throughout the season, our athletes and artists have shown commitment to their teams, determination to develop in their pursuits, and a passion for growing as individuals. As a school, we are proud to be able to provide them this platform both as a reward at the end of the season and as a chance for them to showcase the results of their work.”

Beyond the medals and awards, ISSEA is about connection — a chance for our students to travel, compete, and collaborate with peers from across the continent. These experiences are one of the hallmarks of the ICS Addis High School experience, offering students opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, build global friendships, and develop the confidence and character to thrive anywhere in the world.

Congratulations to all of our athletes and artists for representing ICS Addis with excellence, spirit, and heart!
