Cross Country Team Trains with World Champions in Kenya
It was a one-of-a-kind experience for ICS Addis cross-country runners.
Ten ICS athletes and two coaches traveled to the world famous high altitude training center in Kenya for an extraordinary training experience ahead of the season's culminating meet.
ICS Addis is set to host the ISSEA Track & Field and Cross Country Championships 24-26 October. The distance runners demonstrated exceptional determination and commitment throughout the season, leading Coach Henry Ferguson to believe had earned a special trip ahead of the international meet.
This unique opportunity allowed students to train in one of the world’s most famous running environments, alongside world and Olympic champions.
"Students really thrived on this chance to push themselves in the wonderful running environment of Iten," said Coach Henry.
"They had a unique opportunity to meet and run alongside some of the very best runners in the world. People we met kept saying how impressed they were with the attitude of our team. Our students showed themselves to be tough, talented, and determined athletes who never complained."
This experience allowed the students to bond as a team, achieve personal milestones, and grow individually, reflecting ICS Addis’s commitment to creating positively impactful opportunities for its students.
