Computers, Playground, and More Find New Home at Mekdela

ICS Addis took another step in its long-standing partnership with a nearby school to support their students’ educational experience.

On Saturday, our students and staff made a visit to Mekdela Primary School near the ICS Addis campus to donate computers, install playground equipment, and set up classroom resources like whiteboards, projects, and desks. ICS teams upgraded and repaired the school’s computer power supply, serviced previously donated computers and other technology in their library and labs, and provided training on software and equipment.
For the students of Mekdela, these contributions provide further opportunities for students to engage in deeper learning through play and through technology. Increased access to computers, projectors, printers and other technologies -- as well as the training for the school to maintain the machines -- enhances the students' experience by exposing them to tools that will help them prepare for high level academics and future careers.
For ICS, making these donations to Mekdela is an example of living the school’s mission: to be our best with Africa and the world. Through donations, maintenance work, and relationship-building, ICS students and staff are making a positive impact in our local community and sharing our resources for the benefit of our neighbors.

“Through this partnership, our students have the opportunity to engage directly with the local community, develop empathy, and contribute to the educational development of Mekdela's students,” ICS Facilities Director Tadesse Woudneh said. “By witnessing the impact of their actions, our students gain a deeper appreciation for service and community engagement. This partnership creates a supportive environment where our students can learn, grow, and develop as global citizens while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”
