Season 3 has literally kicked off and there are fixtures already scheduled for our U16/U19 soccer teams next week! I am very pleased that the good turn-outs in these age groups means we will have an U16 Girls soccer team for the first time ever and they will start the competitive season off next week, Tuesday. Please support these young women who are scheduled to play 3 games in the next two weeks with just 2-3 practices under their belts so far. The other 3 teams will all have games before spring break to look forward to, as this is a very popular season with nearly 90 games scheduled up to May. Over a quarter of these games will be here on the ICS field and players and spectators will see just why the top field is off limits throughout the year as it plays host to these games, ISSEA week too.
U14 Volleyball will start this Thursday for girls, Monday for boys, while our U12 Hoopsters will need to wait until Season 3 ASA starts at the end of March. ISSEA Tennis has started and Golf team too will begin practice next week.
38 Students and 6 faculty are away this week on ISSEA duty. Actors and artists have gone to Zimbabwe, while singers and musicians are in Johannesburg. Both of these trips will provide amazing experiences for our students.
As a busy February comes to an end, we look forward to the final round of trips and urge all travelers and parents of travelers, to hit the deadlines for payment and documents. Our STEM team will travel to Mozambique in April and due to a lengthy visa process with this embassy, all documents and applications will need to be in the ASA office first day back after spring break( 20 March).
Other trips include Golf and Tennis to Harare and Global Issues to Johannesburg.
Plans are well underway for ISSEA soccer which will be held here on campus during 19 - 23 April. 154 soccer players will arrive in the city to take on our ICS Eagles in one of the blue ribbon events of the year. As you are aware, we host all our guests and fliers and details about this will be coming home next week. Please be ready to sign up and host and welcome our guests to Addis in your usual warm manner. It will be an amazing April week.
This week signals the last week of season 2 ASA. I hope your kids had an enjoyable, educational and fun time during this season that may have seemed long due to the winter break. Friday does signal the official last day, though there will be G1, 2 and 3 soccer at 8.30 - 9.30 AM to signal the last activity and to bring closure to it.
S3 ASA booklets in Elementary school will be going out Friday 3 March with sign up, 2:45 PM, Tuesday, 7 March. The opening day of Season 3 ASA will be Monday, 27 Monday.
Have a great week.
