Activites & Athletics News, Mick Cooper, Athletics and Activities Director

Last week saw ICS teams feature in a number of Local League finals with U19 Basketball Girls and Boys both winning their leagues along with the U14 Girls Soccer team. Season 2 sports night will be on 8 March where teams will be celebrated and further awards given out. so please mark your calendars!

As season 2 is concluded in most age groups (U12 Volleyball will finish next Monday), season 3 will roll out and dates of those seasons are posted around school. Season 3 athletes will need to register online and sign the athlete contract to be eligible for participation.

As season 3 begins, we are reminded that ISSEA soccer will be here on our own campus during April 19-23. All 8 ISSEA schools will be bringing their best soccer players to compete over 3 days for their own African Cup of Nations Tournament. The ICS community hosts all 146 visiting athletes, just as our own travelers are hosted on the many trips we go on throughout the year. We will soon be asking for families to commit to this reciprocal arrangement and part of playing on school teams is also volunteering to this when we are hosting. That time is soon, so please think about your arrangements. We will need families to take a minimum of two athletes and a maximum of ... however many you can take! It is going to be a real highlight of the school year and hosting these players from other schools is also an exciting and close part of it.

There are no ASA's this week on Friday or Saturday and next week will be the final week also of Season 2 ASA. Planning is well under way for season 3 which will begin March 27th.

International Trips

Thirty eight students and 6 faculty members depart next Wednesday on two ISSEA cultural convention trips. We have students going to both Zimbabwe and South Africa to act, sing, play or create. Please make sure all relevant details are known about dress code, departure and pick up times and that students pack Tuesday evening ready for the early start. These trips are always outstanding opportunities.

Have a great week.
