ISSEA Soccer 2017

Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the 5 day event such an amazing experience. While there were 170 student athletes playing, there were many more who were involved in the logistics of such an event. Host families, medical teams, set-up crew, media and streaming groups, dance teams, mascots, refs, coaches, booster club, cafeteria, marimba, band and choir, team ambassadors and the ASA Office all working together to pull off an outstanding community effort.

48 games were played, 141 goals were scored, and 3 games went to penalty shoot outs. There were 650 cases dealt with in the medical tent, an astounding logistics too! ICS girls and boys teams played some great football and were supported by 100's of cheering fans and in the end, the girls finished 7th with the boys 3rd.

Relive the action, drama and excitement on YouTube channel-search for 'ICS Addis ISSEA 2017 Main Pitch' or 'ICS Addis ISSEA 2017 Lower Pitch'--these are excellent streams videoed by our students and faculty experts and are well worth a watch.

Next year, this event will go to Uganda, who are great hosts but they will also be pushed hard to beat our extravaganza. Again, thank you to everyone for your contributions.

International Trips

ICS STEM team returned from Mozambique with some outstanding reports of their Math, Science and Robotics competition. The team finished with an ISSEA plaque too, coming in 3rd place overall. All Star awards went to Justin and Gebrella.

Tennis team came back from Zimbabwe after three intense but excellent days of tennis. Elias was awarded all star status and the boys’ team of Joseph, Elias and Nico were awarded the Fair play award to reflect their wonderful sportsmanship on and off the courts. Both the Girls and Boys teams finished in 5th place overall.

Our Golf team finished 5th overall in Zimbabwe also. Sean was a part of the team that won the Texas scramble on Day 1, while Patrick was in the top 12 and voted onto the all-star team. Patrick and Sarra were both awarded fair play awards.

All ISSEA travelers should return their ICS borrowed travel bags please and tennis players should return their uniforms also this week.

International season is now over, so teams will now focus on the local league with one or two games remaining before play-offs in early May.
